A COMMUNITY BASED NON-GOVERMENTAL ORGANIZATION



The Association was first registered as a volunteer non-profit association on 31st July, 1986 and subsequently applied for and was registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) on 17th September, 1993.

The MEWA secretariat is currently located at Majengo, in Mombasa District of Coast Province in the Republic of Kenya.

MEWA is governed by a Constitution and is membership driven, the membership being based from the Kenyan Muslim community. The membership elects office bearers, with tenure of one to two years, who then form an Executive Committee entrusted with the pursuit and realization of the objectives of MEWA. The membership also elects trustees with tenure of three years.

The membership through General Meetings ensures that MEWA is run as required by the Constitution of MEWA and in accordance with all Kenyan statutory requirements.

VISION

MEWA aims at being a major contributor in a sustainable healthy, educated and productive Kenya Muslim Community.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the MEWA is to promote, encourage and improve the standard of Education and welfare of the Kenya Muslim Community.
